Biman invites bids to dry lease single 737-800 aircraft


Dhaka: Biman Bangladesh Airlines has issued a Request for Proposal (RFP) inviting offers for the dry lease of one Boeing 737-800 aircraft for a period of 72 months. The national carrier intends to induct the jet as early as possible, preferably by October 25.
As per the mandatory requirements, the aircraft must have a maximum takeoff weight of 79,000 kg and be equipped with CFM56-7B26 engines, each generating 26,300 lbs of thrust, and winglets.
On seating, the airline wants a two-class layout comprising 162 seats, split between 12 business and 150 economy class seats, all of which must be brand new at the time of delivery.
Regarding age, the aircraft on offer must not exceed 15 years by June 30, 2027.
The lease itself is structured as a dry lease running for 72 months, with the tenure to begin counting from the date of aircraft delivery.
Airlines, operators, aircraft owners, manufacturers, and leasing companies that own one or more aircraft, or hold proper legal authorization or a mandate from the owner, are eligible to bid until August 2, 2026, provided they meet the terms laid out in the RFP.
