Shafiqur Rahman appointed new Biman MD and CEO

Dhaka: Md Shafiqur Rahman has been appointed the new Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer of the flag carrier Biman Bangladesh Airlines.

Biman Board of Directors made the appointment on September 4, according to a press release.

A former Director of Marketing and Sales at Biman, Shafiqur began his career with the airline in 1986 as a trainee commercial officer. Over the years, he has served in various other capacities at Biman including Director of Administration and Human Resources as well as Director of Procurement and Logistics support.

He has also worked in departments of tariffs, market research, reservations and cargo.

Additionally, Shafiqur has served as the Country Manager of Biman in Singapore, Thailand and Greece. Eventually, he retired in 2017.

Shafiqur earned his Bachelor's and Master's degrees in Economics from the University of Dhaka. He also holds an MBA in Marketing from the University of Southern Queensland, Australia and completed a Doctor of Business Administration at Southern Cross University, Australia in 2011.

It may be mentioned here that he has pursued multiple diplomas and training in aviation from International Air Transport Association and Bangladesh Airlines Training Centre.
