Norwegian Embassy celebrates historic World Cup win over Brazil


Dhaka: The Norwegian Embassy in Dhaka celebrated the country's historic qualification for the FIFA World Cup 2026 quarterfinals with students at Daffodil International University after the Scandinavian nation stunned five-time world champions Brazil 2-1.
Norway reached the World Cup quarterfinals for the first time in the country's history with the memorable victory, prompting celebrations among Norwegians at home and abroad.
In a social media post, the embassy hailed the achievement, saying Norway displayed "incredible determination, resilience, and Viking energy" to defeat the football powerhouse Brazil.
"From dream to reality – this is a moment every Norwegian will cherish," the embassy wrote.
The embassy also shared that it marked the historic occasion in Bangladesh together with Daffodil International University and shared photographs of the celebration.
"Heia Norge!" the post added, using the popular Norwegian cheer in support of the national team.
