  Nepalese embassy celebrates 40th anniversary of Nepal-Bangladesh diplomatic ties

Dhaka : HK Shrestha, Ambassador of Nepal to Bangladesh, hosted a reception to celebrate the 40th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between Nepal and Bangladesh at Hotel Lakeshore on June 12.
Dr Dipu Moni, Minister for Foreign Affairs, was present on the occasion as chief guest.
Former Ambassadors of Bangladesh to Nepal and Nishat Majumder, first Bangladeshi woman to climb Mt Everest, were present on the occasions among others.
Nepal established diplomatic relations with Bangladesh on April 8, 1972 and it was the seventh country to recognise Bangladesh.
Since the establishment of diplomatic ties, the bilateral relations between Nepal and Bangladesh are characterised by cordiality, goodwill, mutual understanding and shared values and aspirations of the people.
Nepal and Bangladesh share similar views on various issues of common interests and work closely in various regional and international forums, including the UN, NAM, SAARC and BIMSTEC. Exchange of visits at various levels has consolidated close bond of relations between the two neighbours.
There has been exchange of visits at high level visits from both sides, which has contributed to consolidate close bond of relations between the two neighbours. Prime Minister Dr. Babu Ram Bhattarai had fruitful bilateral meeting with Sheikh Hasina, Prime Minister of Bangladesh during the UNGA session in New York in September 2011 and during the 17th SAARC Summit held at the Addu Island of the Maldives in November 2011.
